TCW Fixed Income Team adds Melinda Newman, Drew Sweeney as Senior Vice Presidents

New Hires Strengthen the Resources for Credit Research and Trading

LOS ANGELES – January 20, 2015 – The TCW Group, a global asset management firm, today announced that Melinda Newman and Drew Sweeney have joined the firm’s fixed income team as Senior Vice Presidents.  Both hires are based in TCW’s Los Angeles headquarters and have extensive experience working in the U.S. credit markets.

Newman serves as a senior analyst where she is responsible for evaluating and making investment recommendations regarding high-yield and investment-grade credits.  She reports to Jamie Farnham, Director of Credit Research.  Before joining TCW, Newman was the head of corporate credit research for fixed income at First Pacific Advisors, LLC.  Prior to that, she served as a managing director and senior portfolio manager at Post Advisory Group, LLC, an institutional high-yield boutique based in Los Angeles.

Sweeney is a senior bank loan trader.  He reports to Jerry Cudzil, Head of U.S. Credit Trading.  Prior to joining TCW, Sweeney was the bank loan portfolio manager for Bradford & Marzec, LLC, where he served on the investment committee and managed loan strategies for both total return and CLO accounts.  Before Bradford & Marzec, he worked for Macquarie Group in Los Angeles, overseeing both bank loan and high-yield bond investments.
