Mr. Whalen is Chief Investment Officer and a Generalist Portfolio Manager in TCW’s Fixed Income group, a team that oversees over $170 billion in fixed income assets including the over $50 billion MetWest Total Return Bond Fund, one of the largest actively managed bond funds in the world. He currently serves on the board of the TCW Group, Inc. Prior to joining TCW, Mr. Whalen was a Partner at Metropolitan West Asset Management and Co-Head of its Securitized Products division. Prior to joining MetWest in 2004, he was a Director in the Fixed Income department at Credit Suisse First Boston in New York. Previously, he was a Vice President at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. Mr. Whalen earned a BA in Economics from Yale University. He is a CFA charterholder.
