How do I invest in the MetWest Funds?

Answer: To invest in the MetWest Funds, please download a prospectus and account application from this website or contact shareholder services at 800 241-4671 for a new account application and prospectus.

Once you receive the application and prospectus, please read the prospectus, complete the application form, sign, and return to the appropriate address on the back of the application. Remember to include your name, address, date of birth, and tax ID.

What is the difference between I shares and M shares?

Answer:

  1. I class shares represent the Institutional Class: This share class normally has a lower expense ratio. I class shares are not subject to distribution or administrative fees.
  2. M class shares represent the Investor Class: M class shares are subject to distribution fees.
What is the minimum investment?

Answer:

  1. I Class - Minimum initial investment is $3,000,000 with $50 minimum subsequent deposits.
  2. M Class - Minimum initial investment is $5,000 ($1,000 for IRA accounts) with No minimum subsequent deposits.
Are there rules regarding frequent trading on an account?

Answer:

Each Fund restricts excessive trading by limiting the number of "round trip" transactions a shareholder may make, please refer to Trading Limits section of the prospectus for details. Each Fund reserves the right to:

  • Refuse any purchase or exchange request that could adversely affect the Fund or its operations, including those from any individual or group who, in the Fund's view, are likely to engage in excessive trading.
  • Change or discontinue its exchange privilege, or temporarily suspend this privilege during unusual market conditions.
  • Delay sending out redemption proceeds for up to seven days (generally applies only in cases of very large redemptions, excessive trading or during unusual market conditions).

How can I sell or exchange shares?

Write a letter of instruction that includes:

  1. Your Name(s), and signature(s) as they appear on the account form.
  2. Your account number.
  3. The Fund name.
  4. The dollar amount you want to sell or exchange.
  5. How and where to send the proceeds.

Obtain a signature guarantee or other documentation, if required.

Be sure your bank account information is on file and telephone privileges is setup with BNY Mellon, the transfer agent.. Call the transfer agent at 800-241-4671 to request your transaction. Proceeds will be sent electronically to your bank or a check will be sent to the address of record.

You can also sell or exchange shares by accessing your account online. You must be registered to access your account online.

How do I obtain a Medallion Signature Guarantee?

Answer:

A Medallion Signature Guarantee helps protect against fraud. You can obtain one from most banks, securities dealers, credit unions or savings associations but not from a notary public. Some circumstances require written sell orders, along with a signature Guarantee. These include:

    • Transactions of $50,000 or more.
    • Transactions on accounts where the address has been changed within last 30 days.
    • Requests to send proceeds to a payee or address that differs from what is on record.
Are check writing privileges available?

The MetWest Funds do not offer check writing privileges

Can I exchange within the MetWest Funds?

Answer:

You can exchange from one MetWest Fund into another but you must meet the investment minimum for the Fund you are exchanging into. You can request your exchange in writing or by telephone. Be sure to read the current prospectus on any Fund you are exchanging into. Any new account established through an exchange will have the same privileges as your original account, as long as those same privileges are available.

Will I receive account statements?

Answer:

Every Fund investor automatically receives regular account statements. You will also be sent a yearly statement detailing the tax characteristics of any dividends and distributions you may have received. Additional statements can be sent to a second address, as well as to the address of record. You can set up this service on your New Account Form or by calling 800-241-4671.

Where can I get Fund Expense Information?

Do you have an automatic investment plan?
Answer:

The MetWest Automatic Investment Plan purchases shares each period by transferring the dollar amount you specify from your bank. You can set up this service on your New Account Form or by calling 800-241-4671.

Do you have a systematic withdrawal plan?

Answer:

Call 800-241-4671 to request a form to add this feature. Complete the form, specifying the amount and frequency of withdrawals you would like.

Can I reinvest dividends?

Answer:

Dividends and capital gains can be reinvested or distributed in cash. You can set up this service on your New Account Form or by calling 800-241-4671.

Can I establish an Individual Retirement Account with MetWest?

Answer:

MetWest offers both traditional and Roth IRA accounts that can be funded with the MetWest Funds. Please contact shareholders services at 800-241+4671 for additional details or download the IRA application.
